SERVING RICHARDSON: HUNGER
Hunger is a very real issue for too many children in our own community. Join us as we reflect the light of God’s goodness to families in our community.
FBR is excited about our community garden with 24 raised garden plots. Of this total, 14 plots are available for renting for growing your own harvest. The other 10 plots are run by volunteers and the harvest is given to local Richardson families in need through our hunger initiative partnerships. All are welcome; whether garden expert or novice.
In addition to renting plots, the community can attend free quarterly Master Gardener classes or garden workdays, held on the third Saturday of the month at 9 am. For information, email email@example.com
FOOD FOR FAMILIES
On the second Saturday of each month, our Food for Families team picks ups food from Crossroads, sorts it on church campus, and receives families as they pick up their personalized, nutritionally balanced, food. Normally, we provide 7 days of food for every month. We're also seeking to understand their needs to consider other restorative offers.
SERVING RICHARDSON: STUDENTS
Seeking to make a redemptive impact in the lives of the underprivileged, we ask you to join with us in being the face of Jesus and our church to local students.
NORTHRICH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
For a 25 minute lunch a week, your time with an elementary student can restore a child's vision of themselves.
NORTH JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL
For a 25 minute lunch a week, your time with a junior high student can be redemptive in their self-worth.
UTD FRIENDSHIP PARTNERS
70-80% of UTD International students desire to experience American culture, but never do. If you can have 2 students to your home once a month, and once a week check in (call, email, etc.), you could be their introduction to our culture...and to Jesus.
UTD BSM INTERNATIONAL LUNCH
For 1.5 hours every other week, you can join the BSM lunch. They are curious about American culture and life after college. Most international students are open to discussing realities of different faiths.
Get involved in 1 of 3 ways with this lunch:
- Table Leader: Sit at the same table with 4 or 5 of the same students. No "required" led-discussion...just conversation.
- Front Desk: Help Table Leaders get to the right table. Receive and greet students.
- Food Server: Help serve food.
